Comparison of EBSCO & ELibrary

search term "Obama" resource types=newspaper, magizine, transcripts

Database Total Hits Retuned Hits Mag News Trans
EBSCO SRC 15935 15935 1850 13099 986
Gale Elibrary 7274 250 54 153 43

  • EBSCO -allows student to create personal folders and store individual items or entire searches. You can also set a RSS for a search so you are alerted when new articles become available.
  • ELibrary- checked with Janice Wells-Rottner and she tells me that her students build search lists and email them, but they are not stored.

Please feel free to add to the comparison or correct any thing that does not seem right

Which databases do we want to try to get a group buy on?

Perhaps each site can pindicate which of these they use under the database name so we can get an idea of who is currently using them. This could give us an idea of popularity & a contact person for advice.
